Choosing a Perfect Camp Site

Camping is a great way to get away from your daily routines of work or school, eat, sleep. It provides the chance to experience nature to an extent that most people just can’t do everyday.

How does one select the ideal campsite?
Before looking for the ideal camp site, you must first find a campground that meets your needs. This is easy thanks to the Internet and the fact that many campgrounds have their own website. You can obtain information about various camping areas by visiting their websites prior to your stay; this gives you the opportunity to make an informed decision regarding which facility to choose.
However, remember a campsite always appears slightly more glorified than it really is, much like menu-pictures in restaurants.

Before you choose your campsite you need to take into consideration what kind of camping you want to do. When a campground is labeled as “primitive”, exactly what should you expect?
At a primitive campground you will need to bring everything with you that you will need. This covers your shelter, any necessary gear, plus additional items you may need as well as the basic items such as a first aid kit. Deep in the wilderness is were these primitive campsites are located, you’ll be hard pressed to find showers, (running) water, electricity, or toilets.

Campground that provide “luxuries” like water, waste disposal, and electrcity in a luxurious setting are the other extreme. A number of campgrounds even offer relaxing spas!

The characteristics of most campgrounds, camping site amenities, location and cost, usually fall between these two extremes. If you choose to camp in a private park you will probably find all amenities you desire. Many campgrounds welcome long-term guests since they offer laundry facilities, arcades and shops. The majority of private parks also offer bingo and other organized activities such as child-friendly games or competitions.

Fees for the Campground
It costs more to stay in private commercial campgrounds than in ones that are open to the general public. Campgrounds in state parks can include everything from primitive to resort like settings. A lot have modern amenities such as electricity, showers, working toilets, swimming pools, tours with guides and playgrounds for children.
State and national forest parks are normally fairly basic. Fire rings, pit toilets and picnic tables will most likely be found here. Thankfully, these campgrounds are very easy to afford. They may be absolutely free, or cost a mere few dollars a day.

Make your campground reservations early during good weather.
Note that when the weather is favorable, people don’t want to drive hours and hours for the campground they might have planned on. Instead, they will settle early at a campground closer to them so they can enjoy the rest of the day. To get the best spot you must arrive early and have a bit of luck.
Would you prefer a location close to the swimming pool and play area? Although it is an ideal site for kids it may be somewhat noisy due to pedestrian activity. The same is true with sites near the bathrooms and showers. People are likely to be walking by your tent day and night.

Would you rather be in the middle of commotion and excitement, or do you desire a calm and tranquil atmosphere? Camping offers something unique for all people. There’s no doubt you can find the perfect one to suit your family’s needs.
